Winter Survival: Medicine Making
When we think of gathering and foraging for medicinal plants, we usually envision the green spring, warm summer, and bountiful fall. One of the most useful wild medicines however is only available in late winter and early spring. The cottonwood tree starts to bud as early as late October and around late December, the buds start to ooze an orange sap that has magical medicinal qualities. In this class we will harvest and make medicine in the form of salves, teas, and tinctures from cottonwood and other plants available in local wild areas. |
