Fall Foraging Class

Join us this fall to make one last push to fill the pantry before the snow hits. We'll identify some of the last wild edibles available, do some harvesting and process the bounty. If we're lucky we might do some taste testing and gather enough to take home.

As with most of the topics we teach, there will be a safety and ethics section of the day to ensure we keep our bodies and the earth healthy and safe.

FaQS & class info

The Experience:
  • Identify, Harvest and Process wild edible foods.
  • Taste test wild edible foods we find and other wild foods previously preserved.
  • Learn about the Ethics involved with harvesting wild plants for food.
  • Gain the knowledge of how to forage wild foods safely.
  • Learn to use and build primitive tools used to increase your efficiency in harvesting wild foods.
To show respect for the land and Barkeim Family Farms, we are going to attempt to carpool as much as possible. There will be a ride share leaving from the Shopko parking lot. We will meet at the NW corner that parallels Hwy 61 and leave at 8:15 am. If coming from LaCrosse, please contact us if you are interested in a carpool from there and we can attempt to set something up. Thanks.
