Journey to Middle Earth
Not far away is a world where Elves, Gnomes, Fairies, and other friends and foes from our imagination live. For one week we'll don our cloaks and capes, tunics and staffs as we recreate adventures experienced by our favorite fantasy story characters.
Join the Fellowship of the Concentric Rings as we trek across the rolling blufflands of the Driftless Zone. This week will be an exciting blend of role playing and real life primitive skill building as we create our own fantastical adventure in the likeness of the hobbits and other Middle Earth residents. |

A great evil has descended upon the Heartland. Unrecognizable to the blind eye, this evil has disrupted the natural order. Most importantly the Cycle of Life, in which we are all intertwined and dependent, is in peril. It is up to us to seek out this hidden danger and gain knowledge of it's ways. From knowledge we'll build an understanding, respect, and find a way to maintain the natural order.
To the west lie deep caves that hold evils unknown. To the east a mighty river flows, attracting all kinds of folk; good and evil. In the hills between we will seek to learn about how the creatures big and small live in harmony and how we can maintain the natural cycle that sustains us all.

The Experience:
- Trek across the Mississippi River Valley blufflands seeking knowledge and understanding.
- Study and befriend local flora and fauna.
- Study the inner workings and cycles of the local ecosystem.
- Learn the real life skills and trades of Middle Earth "residents" that help them persevere and thrive: stealth, primitive traps, land stewardship and permaculture, ninja-like awareness, use of primitive weapons, shelter, wild edible and medicinal plants, and more.
- Build and create a story to help us understand the natural world and remember what we have learned and where we have been.
- Improve and add to our costumes.
- Philosophize, contemplate, theorize and ponder the changes that have taken place to the natural landscape influenced by western expansion.
